It’s the kind of thing you normally only see in a full RPG.Īs I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, she didn’t end up passing the scenario, but it was a great learning experience. I want to keep this pretty much spoiler free but I will say that it was awesome to see this type of room in this board game. That surprise led to the coolest room I’ve seen in a Gloomhaven game yet.

Especially when she hit the surprise at the first door. All she really knew were what monsters were in the scenario. We weren’t sure how to play it, so I left it up to Deanna. Is that expectation waved for a solo scenario? You aren’t supposed to read that part until you open the door. Especially when a scenario has a door with a number on it. The thing is you aren’t supposed to read ahead.

Another thing the solo scenario book says is that you should study the scenario and pick your powers and items appropriately. The Gloomhaven Solo Scenario book warns you that the scenarios will be hard, but neither Deanna or I were expecting it to be quite as hard as it was.
